Trades Insurance
Serious cover for specialist trades.
Liability-led insurance for the trades that build everything else, with access to underwriters who understand working at height, depth and heat.
Our approach
The riskier the trade, the lazier the market gets. Your work deserves better than a call-centre policy with the exclusions buried on page forty.
Who we cover
The trades we know best.
Specialist cover across the construction trades, arranged by brokers who understand how each of them actually works on site.
- Groundworks & Civil Engineering
- Scaffolding
- Demolition & Enabling Works
- Roofing & Cladding
- Mechanical & Electrical (M&E)
- Structural Steel & Metalwork
- Carpentry, Joinery & Fit-Out
- Brickwork & Masonry
These are the trades we write most often, not the limit of what we cover. If your trade is not listed, we can almost certainly accommodate it, subject to details.
Core covers
The essentials, done properly.
Most trades policies look identical until something goes wrong. Ours are built around how you actually work.
Public Liability
Limits that satisfy main contractors, with height, depth and heat conditions negotiated to match your work.
Employers’ Liability
Cover for employees and labour-only subcontractors, with the distinction handled correctly.
Plant & Tools
Owned and hired-in plant, tools and equipment: on site, in the van and overnight.
Contract Works
The job itself covered while it is being built, from first fix to practical completion.
Why trades work with us
Cover you can comply with.
A policy condition you cannot meet on site is a claim declined in advance. We negotiate terms that survive contact with real work.
Access to the right markets
Specialist schemes and underwriters for high-risk trades, not a generalist panel that loads the premium.
Conditions checked against reality
Working-at-height limits, hot-works warranties and security conditions reviewed against how you actually operate.
Claims fought properly
Liability claims are defended, not conceded, with your version of events on the record from day one.
Trades questions
Asked by working contractors.
What’s the difference between bona fide and labour-only subcontractors?
Labour-only subcontractors work under your direction and count as employees for insurance, so they need to be on your employers’ liability. Bona fide subcontractors work under their own policies, but you should be checking their cover. We help you get both right.
My policy has a height limit. What if a job goes above it?
Tell us before the job starts. Height, depth and heat conditions can usually be extended for a specific contract. Working outside them silently is how claims get declined.
Are my tools covered overnight in the van?
Only if the policy says so, and usually with security conditions. We arrange tools cover with overnight terms you can actually comply with, and make sure the excess reflects reality.
